Ebonyi Records First COVID-19 Case

Today 26th of April 2020, I am worried as it is not my desire to announce that Ebonyi State has recorded the first Covid-19 index case, Governor of Ebonyi state.

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi in a assertion on Sunday evening, said the patient is a 31- year- aged man from Ukawu in Onicha Local government area of the state.

“The index case is a 31 years old man from Ukawu ok no Onicha Local authorities area.

“He runs a higher transport commercial enterprise with his Sienna automobile which he makes use of to raise food objects to Ore in Ogun State.

“Usually after selling off this food objects he will use the car to lift passengers lower back to Southeast.”

“He called the parents of the three and they agreed that he should deliver them home and they would pay him when they obtained them back. So he took the three of them and started coming back. This happened on the 15th April”.

Umahi stated that at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium maintaining vicinity where they have been kept for some days, on carrying out test, it was discovered that the driver tested positive to coronavirus while the other three passengers were negative of the virus.

He then again directed for a second test on the passengers which later came out the same way the first test was which is negative. This result was released on Sunday.


He alternatively guaranteed the people of Ebonyi state not to panic as the State Government has made enough preparations for such occasion.


The index case, he added, has been moved to the State’s isolation centre the place he is being treated.

“He is very strong and is not showing any symptoms at the moment,” the Governor added
